I have been asked alot of questions about my OC Cleo. So here is her history.
First you see baby Cleo on the far left, isn't she adorable!
As you can see she had the odd eye even as a baby. Cleo was born on an island far out in the middle of nowhere, a place hard to find but a place many have spent their lives in search of. For it is in its own right a city of gold, much like El Dorado.
Cleo was found by a priestess as an infant. Where she came from or who her parents were, no one knows. As for her left eye some would see it as a curse, others say such things are shallow for beauty is only skin deep and the blessing far outweighs all else, for she can see brief glimpses of the future. The priestesses saw it as a good omen, indeed they saw her as royalty. Thus Cleo was raised in the golden temple of the gods by the priestesses.
She was even cuter at age 3 as you can see. And she had a happy childhood, adored by everyone, she was playful and bright. Cleo, even from an early age hid her eye from all but the priestesses, since the common folk tended to stare.
Cleo at age 8 loved to explore the island and play with her bow and arrows; she thoroughly enjoyed hunting food for the people of the temple. She found an interest in learning of as many things that she could, which of course led to hours in the library studying on a great deal of topics.
At age 14 she had become the high priestess of the gold temple through countless hours of study and acts of faith, with her odd eye she was looked upon as a favorite among all the gods, and from this fact she was bestowed with the privilege of eternal youth. The ankh on her right arm is a symbol of her high rank. Cleo still ages but for every 14 years she appears but a single year older.
By the age of 16 (though really around 42) she had become a queen in her own way. Though sadly it didn’t last, for even with her amazing power of precognition she never saw this coming. (You see the gods are fickle as to what they will and won’t let her see) And before too long at all Cleo and her people’s island is found by pirates who wantonly plundered the temple, and the village. And the bastards ruthlessly murdered everyone Cleo ever held dear, they spared her life only to present her to the captain as a gift.
You can imagine what follows… She became the private play thing of the twisted captain’s sadistic mind, subjected to thinks you would surely shutter just to of. Through what seemed like years of this debauchery Cleo’s gentle spirit was seared beyond recognition, and she became dark and almost possessed with revenge. Her heart once angelic heart poisoned and turned to nothing but black thoughts of turning the captains evils upon himself. You can see how she had become nothing but an empty shell of her formal self. She cut her hair in defiance, she even tried to rip out her left eye which she herself came to see as nothing more than a curse (this is how she came to have the scar you see when she doesn't have her eye covered)
She bode her time, her thoughts became darker and darker she could feel herself slipping into a cauldron of hate as black as the inside of a coffin on a moonless night. Until one night she snapped, and in a fit of violent rage she brutally murdered the captain and seized control of the ship. She allowed some of the crew live… IF they would swear allegiance to her, the mighty Cleo, to obey her every command, on pain of death! The crew, terrified of her for the horrible way their former captain and most of the crew were slaughtered, question not a word from Cleo’s mouth.
Cleo became an increasingly notorious pirate, to the point of infamy. For Cleo time was the best healer and it did heal some of her wounds… She remains, hard and icy on the surface, yet there are rare moments when you can catch a glimmer of her former self. But such things are fleeting at best.
The Cleo you usually see would match up at about the age of 25 though in actuality she is roughly 154. She still loves to learn, her quarters are filled with books of all kinds, as well as strange and ancient artifacts of her travels.
She is now a legend among pirates, a myth to most, but for those unfortunate souls who encounter her and her ship The Linx, she is a waking nightmare, though seldom do any survive to tell the tale.
I hope this answers some of your questions
